In 1888 when Marceline, Missouri was incorporated, the first marshals were Joseph Turner and I.A. Runyon. Others who served as officers were Mike Burns, Wesley Ellis, George Ellis, Bill Conklin, Sam Parker, R.C. Freeman, Calvin Wilson. At this time the Police Department consisted of only two officers. James R. Hills, 72, died Sunday, June 28, 2015, in Hesperia, CA.Services were held Saturday, July 11, 2015, at Hillside Chapel. Interment was in Rose Hill Memorial Park and Mortuary, Whitter, CA.He was born November 28, 1942, in Brookfield, son of William B. and Ethel (Hall) Hills.
